Working with me
Whether you need support with writing, research communication, or evidence synthesis, I aim to make the experience transparent, reliable, and straightforward.
What you can expect
I bring specialist experience in research, science, sustainability, and the environment, alongside an outside perspective that can help you clarify ideas, identify gaps, and communicate your work more effectively.
Once we have agreed on what you need, I manage the research and writing process with minimal supervision. I will keep you informed, ask questions when needed, and be clear about timelines, costs, and what is included.
Every collaboration is different. I work on one-off assignments, larger projects, and ongoing partnerships, adapting the process to suit the work and the way your organisation operates.
How My Process Works
Every project is different, but here’s a general outline of how we usually work together.
1. Understanding your needs
We begin by clarifying your goals, audience, scope, and timeline. This will often involve a short call, although we can also work by email or use a brief questionnaire where that is more convenient.
The aim is to make sure we have a shared understanding of the project before work begins.
2. Proposal and agreements
Once the scope is clear, I will prepare a quote and outline what the project will include.
After the quote has been approved, I will provide an agreement covering the deliverables, timeline, payment terms, confidentiality, and copyright ownership.
3. Sharing materials
You provide the documents, background information, data, or contacts needed for the work.
Depending on the project, this might be a single webpage, a collection of research papers, interview contacts, or a set of internal documents. We will identify what is needed together, so you do not have to work this out in advance.
4. Creation and review
I carry out the agreed research and/or writing and share the draft or deliverable with you for review.
Some projects involve feedback at several stages. For others, I will work independently and send you a complete first draft. We will agree on the most appropriate approach before the project starts.
5. Final delivery
Once any agreed revisions are complete, I will provide the final deliverable in the format specified at the start of the project.
Practical Information
Timelines depend on the scope and complexity of the project, as well as the availability of any materials, information, or interviewees needed to complete it.
I will always be upfront about whether your preferred deadline is achievable, and I do not take on more work than I can deliver to a high standard.
For time-sensitive projects, it is helpful to contact me as early as possible.
Timelines & Availability
The revision process depends on the type of project.
For writing projects, my quote will usually include up to two rounds of reasonable revisions. These can be used to refine the tone, clarify the meaning, or correct factual details.
For research and analytical projects, the process may differ. Some projects are collaborative from the outset, with feedback incorporated during development rather than after a draft is delivered. Others, such as scans, briefings, and certain technical analyses, are delivered as final outputs without a formal revision stage unless factual adjustments are required.
The revision process and any limits will always be agreed before work begins.
Revisions & Feedback
Most projects are priced at a fixed fee agreed in advance. This means you know what the work will cost before committing to it.
A deposit may be required to confirm the booking. For larger or longer projects, payments may be divided into several instalments.
Invoices are normally due within 30 days unless we agree on different terms.
Pricing & Deposits
Payment is usually made by bank transfer. International clients can also pay through services such as Wise.
Payment in euros is preferred, but I can also accept other currencies such as:
Pound Sterling
Canadian Dollar
US Dollar
Australian Dollar
New Zealand Dollar
