Working with me
Whether you need support with writing, research communication, or evidence synthesis, I aim to make the experience transparent, reliable, and straightforward.
Why Work With an Independent Consultant?
Working with an independent consultant gives you access to specialist expertise exactly when you need it. You can bring in high-level support for specific projects, ad-hoc needs, or longer-term collaborations, depending on what your organisation requires.
My work is structured to save you time. There’s no need to manage payroll, office space, or internal onboarding. Once we agree on the project scope and deliverables, you share what I need, and I handle the rest.
Because I work with clients across research, sustainability, environment, and innovation, I can offer an external perspective that often helps teams clarify ideas, identify gaps, and strengthen their communication.
Most importantly, I work with clients whose work I believe in. When we collaborate, you gain a dedicated partner who is invested in helping your project succeed.
How My Process Works
Every project is different, but here’s a general outline of how we usually work together.
1. Understanding your needs
We begin by clarifying your goals, audience, scope, and timeline. This often happens through a short call, though email or a brief questionnaire may be used if that’s more convenient or appropriate for the project. This step ensures we have a shared understanding before any work begins.
2. Proposal and agreements
Once the scope is clear, I prepare a quote and project outline. Once the quote has been approved, I provide an agreement for you to sign that includes confidentiality, copyright ownership, and payment terms.
3. Sharing materials
You provide the documents, background information, data, or contacts needed to complete the project. Depending on the type of work, this might be a single webpage, a set of research papers, or a collection of internal documents. We’ll identify what’s needed together.
4. Creation and review
I complete the research and/or writing and share the draft or deliverable for you to review. Depending on the type of project, you may provide feedback at this stage or earlier in the development process. Revision expectations are discussed in advance as part of the project scope.
5. Final delivery
Once revisions are complete, you receive the final deliverable in a pre-agreed format.

Project timelines vary depending on scope, complexity, and the availability of any materials or information needed to begin work. I’ll always be upfront about whether your ideal deadline is achievable, and I never take on more work than I can deliver to a high standard.
If your project is time-sensitive, please let me know as early as possible so I can advise on scheduling.
The revision process depends on the type of project.
For writing projects, up to two rounds of reasonable revisions are included. These are intended to refine tone, clarify meaning, or ensure the content aligns with your audience and objectives.
For research and analytical projects, the process may differ. Some projects are collaborative from the outset, with feedback incorporated during development rather than after a draft is delivered. Others, such as scans, briefings, and certain technical analyses, are delivered as final outputs without a formal revision stage unless factual adjustments are required.
Any project-specific expectations around revisions will be clarified in advance so you know exactly what to expect.
Most projects are priced as a fixed fee, agreed in advance, so you know exactly what to expect. This approach works well for both writing and research projects.
A deposit may be required to secure the project. For larger projects, the fee may be split into several instalments.
Invoices are typically due within 30 days unless we agree otherwise.
Most clients pay by bank transfer, including international transfers via services such as Wise. Payment is preferred in Euros, but I can also accept other currencies such as:
Pound Sterling
Canadian Dollar
US Dollar
Australian Dollar
New Zealand Dollar
In exceptional circumstances, payment by debit or credit card may be possible.
